Pa. AG asks judge to rein in Sandusky defense team's use of subpoenas in child sex abuse case

HARRISBURG, Pa. –  Pennsylvania state prosecutors claim Jerry Sandusky's lawyers are improperly issuing subpoenas and using them for a fishing expedition for his defense against child sex abuse charges.

The attorney general's office filed a motion Friday asking Judge John Cleland to have the subpoenas withdrawn and to force Sandusky's lawyers to show how the information they've sought is relevant. Among their claims is that Sandusky's lawyers sent subpoenas to police that improperly revealed names of alleged victims.

Sandusky lawyer Joe Amendola didn't comment on the court filing, citing a gag order. He says a response will be filed next week.

Sandusky faces 52 charges for alleged sexual abuse of 10 boys over 15 years and faces trial in June. The former Penn State assistant football coach says he is not guilty.
