| Searchers find no signs of 4 people missing after boats collide on Mississippi River in Iowa May 19th 2012, 23:17 BURLINGTON, Iowa – Officials in Iowa say four people are missing and eight others hurt after a boat collision on the Mississippi River. The state Department of Natural Resources says two boats crashed about 1:45 a.m. Saturday in the O'Connell Slough area of the river, near Burlington. One of the boats was carrying 11 people; the other had a single passenger. Authorities say four people are missing. One person was flown to an Iowa City hospital, and seven others were taken to a Burlington hospital. Their names have not been released. Burlington is in southeast Iowa on the Illinois border, about 200 miles north of St. Louis on the river. | |
