A glance at the happenings at the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse trial
Jun 5th 2012, 22:58

KEY DEVELOPMENTS: Nine jurors were picked Tuesday, a brisk pace that surprised some observers but was in line with Judge John Cleland's pledge that opening statements in Jerry Sandusky's child sex abuse trial will begin Monday. Twelve jurors and four alternates are to be chosen.

ODDS AND ENDS: Sandusky was serious during jury selection but laughed when the judge told the jurors, all of whom are from Centre County, that he was from Kane in McKean County. "It is the ice box of Pennsylvania, and the local wolves are no longer there," the judge said, eliciting laughter from the jurors and Sandusky. But when the judge explained that Sandusky was charged with 52 counts against 10 boys, Sandusky lowered his head and stared downward.

WHAT'S NEXT: More jury selection on Wednesday. The process is in three phases, with the final one being very detail oriented with questions and answers from lawyers for the prosecution and defense.
