75-year-old kills break-in suspect, Detroit police say Mar 28th 2012, 14:36 DETROIT –  Police say a 75-year-old Detroit man fatally shot an armed 18-year-old man who was trying to break into his home on the city's west side with two other people. Detroit police said in a statement that the older man was inside his home Tuesday afternoon when he heard the three people trying to break in through a side door. Police say the homeowner fired a shot, fatally wounding the young man, and the two others fled. They were described by police only as unknown males.  Police say the homeowner wasn't injured.
